Carolina Legend, NC 2022
The Carolina Legend traveled just about six hours to Atlanta from Raleigh, NC and made the most of the trip. They were very impressive the entire tournament turning heads with numerous highlight dunks. This is a special group that plays together and competes every game! The Carolina Legend were impressive from the start opening up the tournament with a 59-42 victory against a very solid Memphis Kings team. They coasted past the next two opponents with convincing victories against E3 59-30 and GBC 58–19. Their next match would be their biggest test as they faced Hoop-PHI (TN). The game attracted a large crown from other courts as it came down to the final possessions. The Legend held on to defeat Hoop-PHI 50-46, then the Memphis Kings in the championship game. The Carolina Legend are a very talented group that plays an exciting style of basketball. They have several players with tremendous upside and potential to compete at the next level! Aim High Atlanta 2024
Aim High Atlanta was founded by former NBA player Kenny “The Jet” Smith so it is no surprise that they are elite. They were easily the most complete 2024 team in the entire tournament coasting through the competition with the closest opponent coming within 21 points! Aim High Atlanta came into this tournament with a team clearly more superior than the rest of the field and it showed. The games were barely competitive with victory margins of 21, 25, 31, 35, and 45! Aim High Atlanta has a ton a good prospects that can compete with just about any team in the country. They will definitely be a team to watch going forward in Atlanta Grassroots Basketball. Next Level Scouting |
Maryland Hurricanes, 2023
The Maryland Hurricanes are nationally ranked in the Top 25 for 2023 and showed it this past weekend at the NGS Atlanta Hardwood Classic. This is a special group of young men that compete on both ends of the floor from start to finish. The are an extremely unselfish team that moves the ball and play together even when down. The Hurricanes got off to a rough start dropping their first game Saturday to a very talented AOT 2023 EYBL team. This was easily the best game of the day which say over a dozen lead changes and came down to the wire. This game could’ve went either way but AOT came away with the 48-46 win. This loss fueled the Hurricanes as they went on to destroy every team that stood in their way of a rematch with AOT. They went on to defeat Newnan Elite 49-18, Double Trouble (Red) 57-18, and Memphis Kings 52-18. |
This set up the rematch with AOT which had a different outcome this time around. The Maryland Hurricanes came from behind to win the championship displaying stifling defense holding AOT to a season low 32 points. This is a tough group that has zero quit in them and will continue to make a name for themselves!
Double Trouble Black 2023, GA
Double Trouble Black is one of the newer teams on the scene in Atlanta Grassroots Basketball. Just in year 2, they have already built a solid foundation of players to build around over the next few years. Double Trouble Black has made huge strides since starting last year and will be a team to watch the rest of this summer. Double Trouble Black got off to a slow start in their first game this past weekend against NPG23. They would would eventually pull away and win 48-35. The next game would be a lot smoother as Double Trouble Black cruised by the College Park Rim Rockers 57-27 to finish 2-0 I’m pool play and earn a bye. Their run would come to an end in their next game as Double Trouble Black came up short against Newnan Elite 40-33. This was a great game that saw several lead changes and the result could have went either way. Double Trouble Black has the upside to be one of the better 2023 teams in GA. Next Level Scouting |
Aim High 2026, GA
One of the most dominant performance by any team in any age group in the Atlanta Hardwood Classic belongs to Aim High 11u Gold. This 5th grade group stood out 1st with size across the board from PG-C and from all 7 players on the roster. Not running many plays, there was an obvious received effort to defend which lead to several transition buckets, where the ball moved without hesitation. Even in half court offensively this group showed poise as they executed and dissected competition. Hoop Nation Scouting Report Watch Full Game |

Hoop-Phi 2022 Chattanooga, TN
Hoop-Phi (TN) caught our attention a few weeks ago at the Kelly Memorial Classic with their deep roster and exciting play captured their second consecutive NGS Hoops championship. They entered the ATL Hardwood Classic this weekend hoping to make it three straight! Hoop-PHI (TN) continued their winning ways defeating the Georgia Shock 58-36 and Richmond Elite 74-66 to finish 2-0 in pool play. They went on to defeat a very talented GA Stars 2023 team in the quarterfinals 67-54. Hoop-PHI’s remarkable winning streak finally came to an end against the Carolina Legend. This was an extremely competitive game between two very deep teams but in the end the Legend just had a little too much size and came away with the 50-46 victory in the semi-finals. |

Kadon Fossett 2023- Maryland Hurricanes
Kadon Fossett is a problem! As a seventh grader, Fossett is already a premier two-way guard and is a force on both ends. Fossett was the defensive anchor for the Maryland Hurricanes and was a pest on defense racking up steals and deflections all weekend. He can also run the show and set up teammates for shots while getting his own. Fossett can score from just about anywhere on the court and will easily be a high major prospect in the next few years. It’s absolutely scary to know that this kid has another year of middle school! Next Level Scouting Watch Full Game |
Carolina Legend 2022
Aaron Murphy is a freshman in high school but has the stature of a freshman in college. The rare combination of size and athleticism makes him a matchup nightmare for any opponent. Murphy is impossible to keep out of the lane especially when he takes flight for high flying dunks. He has a great feel for the game along with great timing which allows him to dominate on both ends of the floor. Murphy is easily a high major prospect that should start to attract attention from many college coaches soon. Comeh Emuobor, similar to Aaron, already has great size for the guard position. He is also a premier athlete that can get up off the ground with ease. Emuobor can get to the basket at will and has elite finishing ability especially in transition. Emuobor should continue to develop into a nice prospect over the next three years. Next Level Scouting |
Double Trouble Black 2023
Mansir Williamson was one of the most exciting players to watch at the ATL Hardwood Classic. He has a very polished offensive game and has an extremely high ceiling for his game to continue to grow. Williamson is a premier multi sport athlete with outstanding speed and quickness. He can get to wherever he wants to on the court and can score from all levels. Williamson has a great feel for the game and has the court vision that makes be a high major PG prospect the next few years. Zion Griffin #7 like his teammate Mansir, is a premier multi sport athlete that has a motor you can’t teach. He plays with intensity on both ends and can impact the game in many ways. Griffin is a raw talent that doesn’t have a true position yet but has potential to be an elite combo guard with his ability to score and defend. He has a nice handle and can also can see the floor to make plays for others. Griffin will be a player to keep an eye on as he may develop into one of the best guards in the state! |
Justin Mitchell 2023-Double Trouble Black
Justin Mitchell is a workhorse! He outworks his opponent every possession playing with a motor that never stops. Mitchell possesses great size at 6’ and can finish at the rim with anyone. The 2025 division in the Atlanta Hardwood Classic had an impressive cast, the most dominant individual player in the entire event was forward Cameron Sparks of Chattanooga, TN with We Get Buckets AAU program. ATLANTA HARDWOOD CLASSIC SCOUTING REPORTS
APRIL 16, 2019
This was a loaded event hosted by Next Generation Sports. I don’t know what there method is in finding these teams, but even the elementary age bracket came with some heat. Teams like Dream Chasers Academy and TRU Elite had some young ones who clearly knew what they were doing. Saw a different style of hoops in a team like N.O. Pumas. Was not to familiar with New Orleans basketball but those kids were tough and had a game to back it up. So as always, I try to narrow down a few who caught my eye and attention, and try to give you a heads up of who is next.

Comeh Emuobor 2022 – Carolina Legends, NC
I was in awe when I recognized who was in front of me. Comeh had gotten his name out last fall when SuvTV caught him in action at the CP3 Rising Stars Camp.
Fast forward 8 months later, here comes the 6’2 PG, who looks like he has been taking weight training pretty serious. Comeh walks, talks and plays with a lot more confidence and showed why he has created a buzz in such a short time. Comeh was aggressive in every aspect of the game, driving, dishing, shooting, and being vocal on the court. Comeh is miles ahead IQ wise, on and off the court. College coaches are going to be very intrigued when they talk to him alone and the small things like that can tremendously help his stock. Still with 3 more years of development, Comeh is barely scratching the surface. Went 5-0 on the weekend, winning the championship for his bracket. 2020- Zion Wimby/ G3 Elite/ Mill Creek High School, GA
Zion came out hot for G3 Elite and showed what he does best. He is a shooter, and he loved that top left wing 3. So much he hit 3 straight from the same spot with him being completely smothered on the third one. Already making waves this year, Zion is used to putting on impressive performances. He currently attends Mill Creek high alongside Kendall Latney, and the ceiling for that back-court is through the roof. His shooting and smooth guard play with compliments Latneys athleticism ability with easy. Zion to was vocal on the court, orchestrating offenses as well as making sure the defense was set. 2024- Navar Mason – Maryland Hurricanes
I’m going to be keeping a close eye on Navar. Navar has a skill set that trends to the elite direction. He is a really good passer, consistent 3 point shooter, and very efficient player. He can beat his man off the dribble and also did a good job creating space to shoot the 3 ball. The whole +/- aspect of the game came into play with Navar. With him on the bench at times the Hurricanes would struggle, and the minute Navar entered the game, the Hurricanes seemed to get a spark everytime. Navar to was playing up so he is ready for the competition, and he also goes to a school where players can play varsity early. Navar has the tools to be special so be on the lookout. London Williams 2023-AOT EYBL, GA
London overall had to be one of the top 10 players in the gym hands down. His size and skill set alone was way to advanced for an eighth grader. London was really good at posting up and using his footwork to set him up for open layups. Also London can catch defenses slipping with how well he runs the floor. London was confident enough in his outside game spotting up for multiple 3’s in each game he took the court. London has high upside up and showed he was not scared to pull the 3 ball every now and then. t at least 2-3’s each game Another post player, you can tell London is in the gym working on every aspect of the game not just in the post. He can go coast to coast at any given moment. Side Bar: For some reason the rim was not liking London over the weekend. I would say if he had a consistent day (Just 1) and all of his shots were falling, he would of easily avg 20+ppg and 10+rpgs. High Potential!! Strengths: Size, Footwork, Positioning Improvement: Shooting, Consistency Mathurine Agency WATCH FULL GAME |
London Williams is a workhorse! He doesn’t have a true position at the moment, but the good news is that he can do just about everything on the court. Williams can bang inside and also take defenders off the dribble and score. Although some of his layups rimmed out, Williams has a really nice touch around the basket and is comfortable finish with both hands. He can also stretch the floor and shoot the ball from 15-20 feet. With his combination of size and skill, Williams will be and interesting prospect to watch especially if he continues to grow. Next Level Scouting
Diont’e Alexander 2023 – Maryland Hurricanes
Did a great job running the floor and crashing the boards. Usually got the momentum going for the Hurricanes and set the tone. Side Bar: Me being born in NY, it seems every tournament the basketball gods give me a team from up north that shows that tough up north style of play. The game starts with physical inside play, constant attacks then they spread it out. Hurricanes displayed that all weekend. Mathurine Agency Watch Full Game |
# 2 Malachi Brown 2023-AOT/ Buford High School, GA
Malachi was one of those players who just stuck with me for some reason. You can see the youth in him but something about his game and his expression on the court tells me he is not something to mess with. Malachi will be relied heavy as AOT’s shooter and he showed why over the weekend. Malachi even had a few sets, specifically for him, just to get a 3 off or an open look. He was not shy attacking the basket, and still found ways to make an impact when his shot is not falling. He to is still learning the game, but you can tell Malachi cares and wants to get better. Another key factor is Malachi will be attending Buford High School. That will only increases Malachi’s stock due to Buford being so good in player development on the court as well as in the weight room. Malachi works on his frame and confidence as well, you are looking at one of the top shooters in the state. Strength: Shooter, Solid ball Handler Improvement: Size/Frame, Defense, Court Awareness Mathurine Agency Report Watch Full Game |
Malachi Brown is a high IQ guard with adept court vision that can see plays develop faster than others and make pro level reads on the offensive end. Brown has the ball on a string and makes great decisions with the ball on almost every possession. He has limitless range and can also put the ball on the floor and shoot floaters over taller defenders. Brown is also a good defender that uses his speed and quickness to make plays in the passing lanes and finish in transition. Brown’s ceiling will largely be determined by how much he grows the next four years, but his IQ and skill set makes him an elite prospect. Next Level Scouting
#5 Ajaiden Cheeks 2023 AOT, GA
Cheeks was one of the more versatile guards in this event. His ability to shoot, and attack the basket will have him easily logging Varsity minutes, potentially even being a late season starter. When pressured he was rarely flustered, but showed good control handling the ball with both hands as well. His court IQ was also high, as you can see him fully grasping the plays thrown at him by coach. A Lot of his teammates were still learning the plays and at times were out of position, but you can see Cheeks orchestrating them to be in the right spot. Cheeks got after it defensively as well. Strength: IQ, 3 level Scorer, Communication Improvement: Leadership, Confidence Mathurine Agency Report WATCH FULL GAME

Frank was on a tear this weekend. In one of Bo Bells better performance, Frank brought the rim down twice to let the crowd know he was here. Frank was also very effective with the ball in his hands. He loved to push the pace and was a monster in the post as well. Frank was relied on heavy to carry the load especially when Lane went out, but his work ethic and passion for the game gave him all the ability to do so. Frank will need to work on his shooting a bit as the competition will be tougher in the years to come and he won’t necessarily be the biggest kid on the court. He has the solid foundation, and skill set to work with. Behind the right coach Frank can be special in the class of 2023. Gora has all the tools to be special. Already about 6’5 6’6 the size is there and he is only in the 8th grade. Before I even watched Gora play, I knew I was in for a treat because he was donning the Lincoln Academy shooting shirt. Lincoln is one of the premier HS in GA, so with that coaching Gora is in for a bright future. What I liked about Gora game was his size and how aggressive he was on the defensive end. He was a beast in the press defense using his long arms to disrupt passing lanes and come up with some easy steals. Gora offensive skills were still pretty raw. He knows how to use his size and dominate in the paint, but he has more signs of a hybrid type player than a low post center. He wants the ball in his hands and he wants to make a play. He didn’t shoot much which can definitely help him, since he will be bigger than most of his defenders. I am also interested to know how long Gora has been playing the game of basketball, something tells me he is still fresh, and if he is making the standout list with that raw of skills, his future is bright. Keith had one of the best frames in the gym. If any college coach were to walk in the gym, they would most likely gravitate toward Keith, for his size alone. Some foul trouble affected him early, but throughout the weekend he picked it up. Keith also showed really good footwork, and was able to bully defenders in the post. Caught Terin in the Last game of the day and he looked like he could play about three more, and that was on Championship Sunday. Two moments that stood out the most with this lefty: Releases the trey ball, Opposing bench calls a miss, he knocks it down and stares down the bench the entire way back on defense.
Terin is left handed, so he brings the ball up court with a defender riding his hip, opposing coach yells “he has no right”, Terin then dribbling with his left hand executes a spin move in which he switches hands and finishes the play with a right handed layup. Just say this kid definitely has the answer to the opposition.
