Decatur Blazers 2029 (Georgia)
Decatur Blazers were able to pull away late after Team Durant went on a 5-0 run to have a 4 point lead with 1:42 left of play. Some defensive stops helped them claw their way back while ft shooting helped them steal the victory late. The blazers displayed a lot of energy and there coaches were just as passionate looking more excited about the victory than the actual players. It was a good sight to see as there impact can be crucial in the early stages of these kids development. A few bright spots for the Decatur Blazers would be #3 Jacobi Footman, #8 Amare Medhin, and #5 Eric Foster Jr. |
At this level it is very hard to decipher talent, as these kids are really just out there having fun, but those displayed a little more of an understanding for the game, and there body language alone showed a glimpse of solid base and a little promise.
Amare did a really good job defensively understanding how to close out, and always staying active defensively. Multiple times you see him sprinting back making a defensive play and extending his arms to challenge shots, receiving a few questionable calls. He drained two big free throws to tie the game with a little over a minute left displaying a bit of a clutch gene Just little signs to take away and make note of.
Jacobi Footman stood out a bit with his speed and communication skills as well. On multiple inbounds you seen him directing his teammates getting open and even said something to one of his players before shooting his free throws which looked like a bit of a pep talk or motivational tip. Its good to see the PG of your team be vocal and take steps on being a leader. He also came up with a big steal in the fourth to help seal the win.
Lastly Eric Foster had himself a pretty good game. Foster hit the game winning free throws and made multiple plays late in the game to help the Blazers win. He was in the right spots at the right time and I would label him the swagger of this group. He was very active, had a nose for the ball in the press and on the defensive end in general, while showing his clutch gene.
A fun group with a passionate batch of coaches should see this unit doing big things in the future. Mathurine Agency

The IVY Lions 2026
All the known "top" teams in the country have talent. What usually separates the truly elite is Composure and Playmaking‼️ Ivy Lions is definitely as good as advertised. The Ivy fought through adversity against tough teams and found a way to finish the drill and take home the gold bracket champions. Lead by their big 3 Jermel Thomas, Myles Fuentes, and Felipe Quinones. These kids are definitely top prospects in the making. Hoop Nation Scouting Jermel Thomas #31 is an elite point guard that dominated the entire weekend. He can score when he wants and also defend at a high level. Thomas is one of the big reasons why The Ivy are nationally ranked top 5. Myles Fuentes #23 is a big guard with the ability to get to the rim and finish. He can shoot it from all levels and has good court vision as well. Fuentes is very unselfish and often passed up a good shot for a great one. Felipe Quinones #34 is an all around player with extreme upside. He can score in bunches and is comfortable handling the ball which gives him elite wing potential. Next Level Scouting |
Team Thrill vs GA Stars Chance Mallory (Team Thrill) and Antonio Molder (GA Stars) was certainly a match up to see! Both are elite point guards with different styles. He can set up his teammates as well as get his own offense when his team needs it. Next Level Scouting |

We look forward to seeing this kid develop into an elite guard. Next Level Scouting |

BJ Beale 2022, Drill Academy/Lanier HS-Georgia
The first thing that stepped out with BJ on tape was his first step and quickness. BJ can blow by defenders in a heartbeat and he is very agile as he is able to wiggle around defenders. He has some good size to him coming in about 6’3 and is a 3 level scorer at that. He was very dominant with the ball in his hand, and did a good job finishing at the rim. He was matched up against Braden Pierce who is a 6’7 freshman himself and he did a good job using his body to contort some wild up and unders. BJ is a player who leaves fingerprints all over the game, whether it be attacking the rim, diving for a loose ball or staying with his shot all the way through. |
BJ has the skills and people around him to have a bright future, and I look forward to tracking it.
Improvements: With BJ playing with such a high motor, he is always looking to score. Sometimes if he set the offense, kept moving the ball around, drives could of been extended. Also going at Braden he should of looked to use the size difference to his advantage and show more of his ball handling skills and try to beat him off the dribble. He wanted to make a play every time he touched the ball and although that is not necessarily a bad thing, he just has to keep getting his teammates involved. Strengths: First Step, Speed, Finishing at the Basket Improvements: Awareness, Shooting, Patience
If you FF to those timestamps listed, I tried to put into perspective why BJ stood out to me. His quickness, his ability to finish around the rim, and how he fights for rebounds and finishes through contact.

Matthew Moore 2022 Drill Academy/Lanier HS, Georgia
Matthew Moore might need some more eyes on him as well. His IQ for the game is off the charts. A true pg, his awareness is very high and he is an excellent passer. Although size is not on his side, Matthew playmaking ability, and shooting range make up for it. You can see him scanning the court and just watching for lapses in the defense. All of his passes were no look passes, and following his eyes can have you looking silly. He plays with the intention of leading and getting his teammates open looks to score. He has a good form and he knows his spots on the court. This kid honestly reminds me of a young Jason Williams, who has eyes in the back of his heads and can make the most difficult passes look routine.

Matthew has a lot of game and again in the Lanier program around good basketball minds, I dont see why Matthew cant become a household name in the state of GA. The game was to easy for this kid and he had a lot of swagger as well. Pressure does not phase him and he did not commit many turnovers as well.
Improvements: From the looks of things, Matthew has game and lots of it, but in a way he plays like he lacks some confidence. He is not super aggressive when it comes to scoring, or driving to the basket and I think his size has a bit to do with it. He plays a safe game, only shooting when open or when the defender leaves to much space. Building his confidence, and staying in the gym (court and weight room) is all that will be needed for Matthew to take his game to the next level.
Strength: Playmaking, Passing, Shooting Improvements: Aggression, Muscle, Confidence.

Michael Jacobs 2022, North Metro Elite/McEachern HS-Georgia
Jacobs could of been in the running for MOP on the day. His smooth feel for the game and skills separated him from his peers. His crossovers and iso moves showed he spends a lot of time working on his handles, and his ability to drive to the basket and play off the pick n roll was next level as well. He can finish through contact, and can throw up some of the most acrobatic layups you have ever seen. Michael has an old school feel to him, not to flashy, not a lot of accessories trying to look cute on the court, he just laces them up and goes. Defensively Michael has very active hands, and good timing making a play for the steal. He is very smart and his game shows it. |
It’s like the basketball gods knew McEachern needed a fresh guard to mold, while Sharife continues his dominance into his Sr. Year, Michael should stay glued to Coopers hip and learn everything he can for the moment his number is called. Improvements: One of the easiest things to spot in Michael's game is that his left hand is very weak. He can bring the ball up court with his left hand and set plays up but as far as driving to the basket and finishing at the rim he wants to finish on the right side. In the championship game the opposing team picked up on it and threw Michael off of his game a bit, but being aggressive with both hand will be key to Jacobs development. Strength: Scoring Ability, IQ, Pace Improvements: Left hand, Confidence, Ball Handling

Jermaine Smoak 2022 Atlanta Panthers/Cumberland Christian Academy-GA
Off the bat you can see in Jermaine’s demeanor that he is not one to mess with. He carries that same attitude on the court and it is fun to watch. He is an aggressive ball handler, and you can hear the force in every dribble he takes. Pretty decent size for Jermaine, he loves the pull up jumper and is most effective with the ball in his hand. It looked like the playmakers were making him the go to guy, trying to get him comfortable running the show, and building his confidence. He waste no time getting things going, and for a freshman has a good base to work with. He communicates on offense and defense, is a good team player, and has no problem taking on a leadership role. |
Improvements: He is a bit of streak shooter from outside. He plays very upbeat so when he is coming off of screens, or running to a spot for a 3, he would rush the attempt and miss the shot. Also being the go to guy, he would wait for the ball instead of going to it. The offense would be ran and instead of stepping out or helping a ball handler who is being pressured, he would just stand in his area and wait for something to happen. I would encourage him to be more aggressive on that end. Always go towards the ball. Also his body language might come off as to aggressive/cocky. As stated in his strengths, he is one that locks in to the game and he blocks out all of the outside noise. Coaches would try to give him instructions mid game and although he might of been listening he didn’t really acknowledge the coaches or give em that security that he is listening. Little things that he will develop as he gets older.
Strength: Midrange, Dribbling, Aggression Improvements: Defense, Outside Shooting, Body Language

Nymir Porter 2022 Philly Bottom Ballers/Eastern Academy Charter, PA
Nymir game really interest me and he is one of the more intriguing prospects I seen. He has a little flair on every play and it’s unintentional. He doesn’t have quite the height to be considered a full time low post, but he has that body type where his hips and frame restrict him to those duties. You can see in his game though he has some guard type skills in him and it looks good coming from him since it is not expected from his position. He is more of a stretch 4/5 but played the 3 for Bottom Ballers this weekend. It’s just something about him though, his style is unorthodox and it works. He’s tough and can finish inside but also put the ball on the ground. Nymir has that east coast grit which makes him tough to defend and very scrappy on the glass and offensive end. |
He plays with a lot of passion and takes pride in winning as well. Improvements: the biggest thing with Nymir will be finding comfort at a position on the court. I can’t quite call him a guard but I don’t want to restrict him to a the post as well. He did not display much of a jumper but his toughness made it easy for him to attack. As competition gets better he will have to use his handles to beat of bigger defenders and that midrange jumper could be crucial to his success. I would like to see him develop that and to work on keeping his head up when he dribbles. He is a good passer and can set his teammates up, but he has to be aware at all times.
Michael Marable 2022 Philly Bottom Ballers/Eastern Academy Charter School, Pennysvania
Michael was an all around baller and it is shown in all of the film. A true basketball player there is not much Michael can’t do. He is comfortable with both hands, knows how to run an offense, slow down the pace when things are getting wild, and is able to beat his man off the dribble. I really like his game because he always makes the smart play. He is not going to rush anything. does a good job of penetrating the d and kicking out to his open man. He gets low on the dribble and blows by bigger defenders. He plays the game with a lot of confidence.

Grind Academy Basketball 2024
The more I watch womens hoop the more I respect there game and understand it. I have always been a fan of it, dating back to the Candace Parker days at Tennessee and seeing how she dominated the game. As I went through my own basketball playing phase, I started seeing there was more to the game than just being fast, a good shooter and being able to dunk. Its running plays, understanding teams weakness, back cuts, ball screens the whole nine. That is the biggest difference in my opinion between the mens and womens game, is the attention to detail women hoopers have. This Grind Academy team was one of the better youth girls basketball team I have seen thus far. |
Lead by head coach Edward Cooke, he did a good job of bringing his girls in with the mindset to kill. All of the players on his team knew their role and never left it or went away from it. The game got out of hand early and by halftime Grind Academy was up 31 at the break. To some coaches on the winning team, halftime would of been a quick pep talk and then telling their players to get some shots up, Coach Cooke did his pep talk and had his team running “down and backs” for the last two minutes. He gives his team no time to get complacent and he expects perfection. It was also fun to see with his team up so big how hard they stayed with it and kept their foot on the gas. A team this dominant comes down to coaching and Edward Cooke and his staff deserves some high praises. In there championship matchup, the opposing team could not get the ball past half court and put them up 7-0 within the first couple minutes of the contest. It was a one sided game for the most part, but the fact these girls never let up was the most impressive. Picked up a 62-6 win in a championship game. Lead by Kaylee Carson a big guard who is a monster in transition, Kayla Lee the defensive anchor, and Seini Hicks the all around low post player, this team should be winning a lot of championships this summer.

AJ Bouye 2021, Georgia
With Messiah Thompson gearing up for college next season, this trio from AJ Bouye can help North Atlanta tremendously. Elijah Williams showed he can take on a leadership role and be relied on as a dominant scorer. Gage Lane plays with a lot of energy and is a physical presence on the glass, while Israel Harvey is the defensive stopper, with a smooth mid range that does all of the dirty work. This is a very well coached team also. You can hear their coach telling their guards to identify the opposing teams defenses, and constantly trying to get his players moving on offense. A good basketball mind around these kids will take them far. Between North Atlanta coaching staff and AJ Bouye staff, North Atlanta can be an under the radar team this year. |

Trevon Bass 2022, First Class Game/Siegel HS-Tennessee
The more events I attend, the more schools are starting to become familiar and you are starting to see players are coming from certain areas. Although Trevon’s team did not pick up the win, his style of play stood out but it was a different style. Then he told me he attends Siegel HS in Tennessee, a school where I have write ups on 2 of their players who stood out from another tournament. Clearly this Siegel program is home to a lot of good talent, while Bass looks to make a name for himself. He is super shifty and has eyes everywhere, making acrobatic passes left and right. Bass also stood out because he gave it 100 percent the entire game. Even when it was clear the game was over he still tried to compete. He can knock down the outside shot, and can get to spots easy since his handle is so strong. |
Braden Pierce 2022 North Metro Elite/River Ridge High School-Georgia
Braden is a coaches dream with his size and age alone. He is a freshman standing at 6’8 and looks to be a big part of teams success his sophomore year. He has the potential to be really good, being able to score in traffic and being aggressive on the rebounding end. He picks up the easy blocks without even having to leave his feet, and he altered shots all day, using that defense to carry NME to a championship. He has good energy for his size as well and did a good job running the floor.
Improvements: Braden is still a project. He did not display much post moves, or a solid back to the basket game, he just relied on his height to make a play. The competition will get bigger and stronger throughout his basketball career, so he will have to find ways to sit on the block, and demand the ball to make a play. Also doing some research on him, I found out he is a baseball player. Once he gets comfortable with the game, I am expecting some cross court darts, Kevin Love esq transition passes in the future. Strength: Size, Reach, Finish in contact Improvements: Foot work, Post Moves, Strength
